G135: Red Sox 9, Phillies 2

Phillies - 000 020 000 - 2 5 1
Red Sox - 000 800 01x - 9 14 0
Xander Bogaerts drove in four runs, David Ortiz hit career home run #496, and Wade Miley (9-5-2-0-8, 110) pitched Boston's second complete game of the season.

Ortiz's home run was his 30th of the year, giving him a franchise record nine seasons with 30+ dongs. Ted Williams reached 30 home runs in eight seasons.

Mookie Betts had three hits and Jackie Bradley, Blake Swihart, Josh Rutledge and Ortiz each had two. ... Bradley also scored twice and drove in two.

Betts, CF
Holt, 3B
Bogaerts, SS
Ortiz, DH
Shaw, 1B
Castillo, LF
Swihart, C
Rutledge, 2B

Marc Normandin, OTM: NESN Asked Don Orsillo To Lie And Say He Wasn't Fired:
Hey NESN, you decided to fire Don Orsillo. You knew there would be backlash. If you miscalculated how much backlash there would be, that's on you, and it's not up to Orsillo to fix your mistake. ... [E]ither you're misguided, or you think your audience is full of dummies -- please be careful when selecting which one of those it is, as you've already made enough fans angry.
Its shameful treatment of Orsillo and subsequent PR debacle is simply another example of NESN Being NESN. Red Sox fans deserve so much better than this unprofessional network.

I'll repeat SoSHer's Gorton Fisherman's comment:
"NESN is like one of those terrible tourist trap restaurants that has mediocre, overpriced food and bad service but succeeds because it has a spectacular view. If it wasn't for their access to Red Sox broadcasts they'd be completely fucked. And because of the Sox they have little incentive to improve the rest of their shitty programming."
