I read this email from yesterday on the SABR mailing list:
"The Reds just walked a batter with the bases loaded for the 4th time in the game against the Indians (Thank you! Those are the only 4 runs Cleveland has scored thus far.) Anyone know what the record is for bases loaded walks in a game?"

Four bases-loaded walks??? Cleveland won 5-3 and the MLB game story says, "For the first time since 1969, the Indians drew four free passes with the bases loaded in a game." Elias says that was June 25, 1969, "in the second game of a doubleheader at Fenway Park." Also: "The last time Cincinnati issued at least four bases-loaded walks in a game was on Sept. 20, 1970, against Atlanta."

But nowhere does anyone say what the MLB record for bases-loaded walks is. Boooooooo........ but wait!

Luckily, Joy of Sox has the answer:
"Topping the list is a game from April 22, 1959, in which the White Sox scored 11 runs in the seventh inning on only one hit. The Kansas City Athletics issued eight bases-loaded walks (and a bases-loaded HBP)!"

(At least, I think that is the record.)
