The new number (his age this coming season) was chosen by his son.
I can't say the Sox were wrong not to offer arbitration, and I don't know if he would have been happy as a fourth outfielder. But it's not a good feeling, and I hope (and even predict) the Indians get more than their money's worth.
It's his dream come true...he can hang out with Keith Foulke.
